Groups can use the sitting rooms, small bar and restaurant, with catering and accommodation available for wedding parties. Ceremonies take place at the hotel or in the island chapel. The hotel sits in a glaciated valley in West Cork, on the edge of Gougane Barra Lake and looking across to St Finbarr’s Oratory on the island. It is a seasonal, family-run place: the family took over a former hunting lodge here around 1854, and the present hotel was built in 1936. The restaurant looks over the lake and oratory, serving country-house cooking made with local food. Walking, cycling and fishing are available nearby, and Gougane Barra Forest Park’s walking trails are a short walk from the hotel.
