Arriving at Quinta de Casaldronho means settling into a historic wine estate beside the Douro, with views across the river to the Peso da Régua valley. Rooms look out over the river and vineyards, while paths, orchards, springs and an olive grove give the grounds their own rhythm. The estate produces wine, including port, as well as olive oil. Meals are served at Egas Moniz, and VistaDouro bar is the place for regional wines; a panoramic outdoor pool sits on the roof of the building. When it is time to leave, the Douro remains in view, with Lamego reached by the EN 313 road.
