Multifunctional complex is located in the city center and consists of two separate functional units: Zlín Congress Centre, whose investor is the statutory city of Zlín, and the building of the University Centre in Zlín, whose investor is the Tomas Bata University. In 2003, an agreement on cooperation for the Cultural and University Centre Zlín project was concluded between the city and the university. The aim of the project was to build quality infrastructure for organizing cultural and social events, modern facilities for the Zlín Bohuslav Martinů Philharmonic, and to acquire representative spaces for the rectorate and the scientific and technical library of the newly established Tomas Bata University.
