The hotel has a classical character shaped by Portuguese and local history, and stands in central Castelo Branco, close to both the historic quarter and the city’s main shopping area. Its namesake, Queen Amélia, is remembered for her support of the region; a more personal tribute appears in the Cargaleiro Suite, where an original painting created for the hotel by local-born artist Manuel Cargaleiro spans a bedroom wall.
