On Viseu’s Rossio square, the Avenida carries a history that reaches back to the early twentieth century, when it was known as Grand Hotel Avenida and counted among the city’s first hotels. A recent renovation has kept its restrained elegance and distinctive vintage style while bringing in modern touches. The central location makes it easy to explore Viseu on foot, particularly its historic centre. The Grão Vasco Museum, Parque Aquilino Ribeiro and the linear park along the Pavia River are all nearby. Restaurants and cafés sit close to the hotel.
