Founded as a hotel in 1910, it occupies a purpose-built building from the early twentieth century, with a dormer attic and decorative detailing alongside later extensions. Refurbishment has brought Victorian architecture together with modern features. The restaurant serves seasonal dishes, bar food and Sunday lunches, with vegetarian and vegan options. Mickey Stephens Bar has snug areas for drinks ranging from tea and coffee to cocktails, and hosts live music; the bar can also be used for parties.
