Ateneu Artístico Vilafranquense is in Vila Franca de Xira, though its website does not identify nearby sights or transport links. The centre brings together a music school, a visual arts studio and classes focused on movement and wellbeing. Music activities range from individual instrument lessons to children’s and youth choirs and the Orquestra Juvenil, with ensemble work forming part of the programme. Drawing and painting classes explore techniques from graphite and watercolour to oil and acrylic; participants’ work is later shown in the hall or on the Ateneu’s mural. Chi Kung, clinical Pilates and Barra de Chão add movement sessions to the cultural programme.
